SONS (Saving Our Neighborhoods & Streets) Outreach is a faith-based non profit organization committed to the social development, academic excellence, and spiritual growth of St. Clair County’s at-risk youth through purposeful relationships and structured programming. We seek to impact students in a positive and holistic manner through various programs striving to develop social, spiritual, academic and personal skills. SONS was founded in 1992 with a vision for the City of Port Huron and its "at risk" youth.
Our goal is to meet the problems of drugs, violence, and crime head on with a ministry of early intervention. Through organized recreation, tutoring, counseling, and leadership training, the lives of many have been challenged and changed. SONS has been able to reach thousands of young people through the SONS Basketball League and the juvenile detention center outreach. Other activities include after-school programs, breakfast club, performing arts, computer classes, field trips, crafts, cooking, career planning, chapel, and junior and senior high school activity nights.
